Peace Tree

When I was a little girl I had a favorite tree that I called the Visa Versa Tree, so named because I used to hear Walter Conkrite say that phrase quite a bit on the evening news. Yes, this dates me, child of the 60s. Anyway, this tree was a gnarled old apple tree that I’d climb when I was upset or needed to be alone. I always found peace there, and when I look back, it’s almost as if the tree knew that I was sad or lonely and was offering comfort. The tree in this painting could be the Visa Versa Tree, or maybe it’s the symbolic tree of peace, the olive tree. All I know is that we could all use a good sit under its spell.
