I’ve always wanted this — the inspiration and the discipline, the studio, the time to paint. In 2020 I was able to move into this life, and I am so full of gratitude.

It is a truism to say that it’s the journey, not the destination. I feel so lucky to be on this art journey at this particular juncture in my life. To have the chance to harness this form of creativity is a joy and a privilege that I don’t take for granted. Previous to this chapter, I was an elementary school teacher who got up at 5 am to paint for 30 minutes before getting ready for work. Painting has always been part of my life, but over time I’ve come to realize the creativity inherent in so many things; the relationships we build and maintain, the day jobs we hold or brilliant careers we forge, the food we cook, the nurturing, the love and the care we take for those around us. This is the real thing, this creative life journey we all lead. Painting is just one expression of that journey.
